Viewing the script files available for each game

Game names are at the top-most level in the game list (on the left side of the opening and edit screens). If game names have been entered into the list, the names are always visible. Clicking on a "+" symbol next a game's name causes all the script files for that game to be displayed. Clicking on a "-" symbol next to a game's name hides the script file names.

Selecting a single script file as the "active" file when many are available

If multiple scripts are available under a game's name, only one can can be "active" (used by the game) at a time. The active script under a game will have a check-mark.

To make a script the active script, click on the script's name in the list, and then select Make Script Active from the Options menu.

Note: If there is no check-mark attached to a script under a particular game, then the game has been made inactive (scripts are no longer partnered to the game when it is run). Making a script active automatically re-activates the game title.

Adding and removing game names

If you wish to use your ThrustMaster control as more than a DirectInput game device, you first need to add the game and create a new script under the ThrustMapper . This allows software to automatically recognize when the game is run, and to partner a script file for that particular game.

To delete a game's name from the game list, click on the desired game name and then select Delete from under the File menu. When you delete a game name from the list, the names of its script files also are removed.

Importing a script file

The Import Script option under the File menu imports (copies) an existing script file. Select a game name, and then select File | Import Script. In the dialog box that appears, enter the new script name and click on OK. In the next window, enter the path and file name, or use the directory tools to locate the script to import.

If you wish to copy a script that was loaded during software installation or a script that you had previously created, go to the MAPS directory (the path usually is C:\PROGRAM FILES\THRUSTMASTER\RAGE\MAPS\. The file names have a .RAG extension, and contain both the game name and script name (example: QUAKE_MYFILE.RAG).

The new script file will be saved automatically to the MAPS directory, using the currently selected game and the your new name as part the name. Example: If you selected the game Deader, and added a game as "MYFILE2", the new file name would be DEADER_MYFILE2.RAG. The new script will appear in the games list, and can be edited like any other script file.

Copying a script file

Use the Import Script option under the File menu to copy a file. See Importing a script file.

Creating a new script

New scripts are created for a game by selecting the desired game name from the games list, and then selecting New Script under the File menu. The
procedures for assigning commands to buttons are available under a separate topic.

Deleting scripts

A script name can be deleted from the games list, making its associated file unavailable to the game. The file itself is not deleted from the MAPS directory.

To delete a script from the games list, click on the script name and then select Delete from the File menu.

Note 1: If you delete the file that is currently open (in the edit screen), the display will be returned to the ThrustMapper's opening screen.

Note 2: If you delete the active script under a game, the game is deactivated (scripts under the game are no longer partnered with the game). To re-activate the game, click on a script name under the desired game, and then select Options | Make Script Active.

Disabling all script use with a game

If you wish to use your ThrustMaster control only as a DirectInput device (no active script file), click on the game's name in the game list, and then select Make Game Inactive from the Options menu. Scripts will no longer be used with that game when it is run. Check-marks will be absent from the script list under the game's name.

To re-activate the game, select a script under the game's name, then select Make Script Active under the Options menu.

Changing the name of a script file

Script names can be changed by selecting and editing the text in the script's name in the game list. Alternatively, right-click on the script name and select Rename.

Changing a game's name

Game names can be changed by clicking on a game's name in the game list, and then editing the text in the Game title box that appears on the right side of the screen. You be asked if you wish to save the changes when you click on another game name or when you try to exit the ThrustMapper.

Changing the path to a game

The ThrustMapper can do its job only if it knows the correct location of a game program. If you change the installed location of a game, click on the game's name in the ThrustMapper window, and type in the game program's path in the Game program box that appears on the right side of the screen. Alternatively, use the Browse button to locate the game program. Note: You need to locate the .EXE or .COM file for the game, not a .BAT file.

File actions to avoid

  • Don't move the MAPS directory from its location after you have installed the ThrustMapper software.

  • Don't move or delete any script file in the MAPS directory with the Windows Explorer or some other file management utility. Exception: If you have deleted the game's name from the game list (on the left side of the ThrustMapper screens), the game's script files can be deleted from the system. A file may be copied to another location at any time (after all, you'll want to share scripts with friends and other gamers).
